Greater Manchester Poverty Action (GMPA)

Manchester Credit Union is a Principal Partner of GMPA and helps to promote the work they do in the Greater Manchester region, but do you know what they do?

GMPA exists to support local efforts to prevent and reduce poverty by working with stakeholders to affect change. Whilst the main levers for addressing poverty sit with central government, there is more that we can do collectively to tackle poverty locally.
They have identified three key areas that must be addressed in order to make progress in towards our vision of a Greater Manchester free from poverty. These are:

  1. Boosting household income and financial resilience.
  2. Ensuring stakeholders in GM embed a strong strategic approach to tackling poverty.
  3. Embedding the voices of people with lived experience in the decision-making structures and systems of GM.

GMPA would encourage you to make sure you are claiming all the financial support available to you by using the tools available on our website. This includes benefits, grants and local welfare assistance. There is also information on the same web page about the location of food providers, and other support services.
