CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL CREDIT UNION DAY WITH MANCHESTER CREDIT UNION
Every year on the third Thursday in October we celebrate International Credit Union Day, where we highlight the brilliant work done by credit unions, promote their achievements and share member experiences.
The awareness day recognises credit unions' impact on communities' financial wellbeing—the true spirit of the credit union movement. At Manchester Credit Union, we believe this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our members and remind our community of the benefits of being a member.
One World Through Cooperative Finance
This year’s International Credit Union Day theme is ‘One World Through Cooperative Finance’, which focuses on credit unions' power to drive positive global change.
Credit unions are unique because they are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members. Unlike traditional banks, credit unions put people before profits and focus on delivering high-quality service and financial solutions to meet their members’ needs.
We’re on a mission to promote financial inclusion, improve financial literacy, and give people access to financial services that can help.
Why Join a Credit Union?
One of the main advantages of joining a credit union like Manchester Credit Union is the variety of personalised services available – from a range of savings accounts, including one dedicated to Christmas, to fair and affordable personal loans. We aim to provide loans to as many members as possible, helping to free them from a cycle of costly and often stress-inducing debt.
Being a member also means being part of a community of like-minded individuals who value financial well-being. Manchester Credit Union encourages community engagement - when you join us, you’re not just a customer but a member, which means your voice matters.
On this International Credit Union Day, we invite you to explore the benefits of being part of our community. For over 30 years, we have supported the Greater Manchester region as a financial cooperative owned and controlled by our members. If you want to improve your financial situation, we’re here for you.
To learn more about how you can join and take advantage of our services, visit our website, Manchester Credit Union or drop by one of our branches in Manchester, Wythenshawe, or Rochdale. Together, let's celebrate the power of community and cooperative finance – today and every day.
